Updates
The SAS Observatory now has the pier and motor mount installed. Electric service has been hooked up as well. The next step will be to install the fork mount and scope.
A motion was put on the floor for the SAS to sponser a "Astronomy and Space Explorer Post" with the Boy Scouts and create a Chairman post. The motion came from Ray Watt and was seconded by Bruce Patterson. This ideal came from Jim Rosenthal who used to be a Scout Leader and he would be the Chairman for this post.
A couple of weeks ago, the SAS Board put out a email that asked the members of the SAS to vote on a new dues structure. There were two choices on the ballot. Either a flat fee of $85 a year or a three tiered system with a $20 level, a $45 level and a $175 level. Each level having different benifits of membership. The club responded with a 8 to 15 vote in favor of the Three Level system. A motion was put on the floor to accept the Three Level system by Don Walker and was seconded by Ray Watt. These new dues will go into effect on January 1st 2007.
SAS members are asked to email their intensions of running for the board by December 15th so they can be on the ballot for the December meeting.
