Minutes of the monthly meeting of Sangamon Astronomical Society held November 18th, 2004 at 7:00 PM at Morgan Stanley.

Updates

SAS Members had to decided if they wanted to be consider for board positions in the club and make their intensions known at this months meeting. Members Larry Hardy (Current President), Mike Robertson (Current Vice President), Glenn Cunningham (Current Secretary), Ray Watt (Current Board Member) and Darren Hulskotter made their intension know to the club. If no one else wishes to run for a position then by default these five members will be on the next board since there are only 5 possible positions. The four officer positions are determined by the board after they are elected.

Treasury Report:    Treasury report was accepted by the club.

Planning and Grants:  At the previous meeting we had a presentation by a couple from Edinburg who expressed an interest in selling a piece of land to SAS for the building of a dome. SAS is seriouly looking into this possibility.

Observing Program:  No Report.

Public and Private Events: The club will be helping Member Marty Morris's Astronomy Class once again this Sunday (Nov. 21st.) at Centennial park. Marty's class is given lab assigments and using SAS member scopes and help, they can succeed.

Star Party: The 4th Annual Illinois Dark Skies Star Party will be Sept. 29th - Oct. 2nd. The Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Park should be reserved by the next meeting.

Presentation

There was a very good presentation given by SAS Member Don Walker. He showed us how he takes such great digital astro pics. Using his Cannon Digital camera and his laptop with DSLR software, Don can control both his LX200 scope and the camera through the laptop. This results in very high qualiity images.
