Updates
The big update of the night was the awarding of SAS founder Don Jardine with the "Most Outstanding Amateur Astronomer" award. The award was from the North Central Region of the Astronomical League, which represents Illinois, Wisconsin and North and South Dakota. WAY TO GO DON!
Treasury Report: We sold 11 TShirts at the Astronomy Day Event. The SAS is now covered under the Astronomical League insurance (formally known as the New Hampshire Group). Larry Hardy paid $327 to cover us initially and a motion was passed to reimburse him.
Tax forms were filed with no taxes due. Clark submitted a list of all members totaling 35. Letters have gone out to people who have not paid their dues. Also 3 new members signed up at the Astronomy Day Event.
Planning and Grants: No Report
Observing Program: No Report
Public and Private Events: The next event is the transit of Venus on Jun 8th. This will be a private event at Centennial Park.
Star Party: 7 people have registred for the star party so far which is not uncommon for this time in the year.
Glenn Cunningham proposed changing the format for giving presenations to groups. He would like to see a more structured teaching presentation with questions and answers before any viewing through the scopes.
The next meeting will be held at Don's house on June 17th so bring your scopes!!!!
Presentation
The presenation that Larry Hardy was to give on astrophotography was cancelled due to weather conditions.
The meeting was adjourned at 9pm.
