Updates
Messier Marathon was a success even though we did not have the best of weather. We had about 10 SLAS members there which we made it a nice crowd.
Treasury Report: Darren reported that we have given a check to SCI in the late Marty Morris's name for $100. SCI said they would use this money for new astronomy software. A motion was made to pay the insurance bill. Motion passed. There was also a request made to make statements on the web site stating that there are no refunds on registrations.
Planning and Grants: No Report.
Observing Program: No Report.
Public and Private Events: SAS will be hosting this years Astronomy Day event at the Rochester Public Library on April 30th. SAS members are asked to be on site at 4pm. Focus this year will be on getting new members. We will be doing solar observing. Glenn will email out flyers for members to post in public places. We have been contacted by Glenwood High School in Chatham about doing a presentation for the students there. We are looking into this to see what all we be involved and when.
Star Party: We are looking into the ideal of having companies sponsor our event this year.
Presentation
This months presentation was done by SAS member Fred Pilcher. Fred showed SAS Members some new software that he has which analyzes pictures of asteroids to try and show a periocity in rotation. This was a very complex subject and extremely intriguing. Thanks again to Fred for another great presentation.
The meeting was adjourned at 9pm.
